In Montreal you're able to find a city that combines the best parts of both Europe and North American culture and lifestyle. Montreal is situated about the same distance apart from both the European Coast and the Western coast of Canada. The second largest city in Canada Is bound to have many activities you will enjoy while you visit.

The only city in the world that really can compare to Montreal is Paris as they both have a diverse cultural atmosphere. Montreal has the second largest population of a French people in a metropolis in the world, with about 3.5 million of French descent. About 1.2 million people of various cultures such as Eastern Europeans, Greeks, Italians, British, Jewish, South Americans, Chinese, West Indians and basically any other nationality help comprise the population of Montreal. Montreal is by far the most festive and exhilarating city in all of Canada. You're able to find anything you would like in fine dining, bars and clubs and there are always excellent festivals occurring.

Montreal is very accommodating to any group or individual that decides to visit. All about the city you'll see signs of civic pride and prosperity that basically demonstrate how they would like to show tourists a good time. You are able to find a full range of services from fully serviced housing, penthouses, short term rentals and basic hotel accommodation.

Montreal attractions

While in Montreal you will find you have a great deal of choices for activities, So I will recommend a few to help guide you in your fun. The former Olympic cycling track known as the Biodome has since been converted into an artificial habitat that contains four different ecosystems. A tropical forest, Laurentian Forest, St. Lawerence Marine Ecosystem and Arctic and Antarctic polar winds ecosystems are all there for you to enjoy and learn about. After enjoying the Biodome if you want to remain close Montreal Botanical garden is only a few steps away from Olympic Stadium. You basically walk underneath the Sherbrook Street Bridge and find yourself right at the gates of the Botanical Garden. To enter it costs $12.75, however it gives you access to the gardens and the Montreal Insectarium. The Insectarium seemed like it would give a detailed exploration of the world of insects so I started with it.

The Montreal Insectarium opened its doors in 1990 and since then has built up a magnificent collection of insect species that include butterflies, moths, bugs and spiders. The scientific collection contains more than 140,000 insects while the exhibition collection contains 4000 specimens which are on public display, with about 16000 more than they cycle out for unique public viewing anytime you wish to visit. What intrigues me most about the Insectarium is that it focuses on more than just science. It explores aspects I hadn't even imagined with art that involves insects and even the cultural and gastronomical views that are associated with insects.

Once you're done at the Insectarium you should check out the marsh and bog garden that showcases many different water lily breeds. Also in very close proximity there is a rose garden which has many different kinds of roses and typically over 10000 on display.

To continue with the beauty in Montreal just travel a bit north to the Japanese garden that was designed by Ken Nakajima, the highly touted Japanese garden designer. Every aspect of the garden including the stones, water features and plants were chosen to create a unique symbolism of the garden. Situated right next to the Japanese garden is the Chinese Garden which represents the link between the Parks Department of Shanghai and Montreal. To construct the Chinese Garden they brought in 50 specialized Chinese craftsmen to help build the garden along with 120 containers in 1950.
